Mishu Vu | US
Mishu Vu, an artist based in Los Angeles region, was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the US in 1975. He obtained a B.F.A in photography from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and an M.S. in Technology from the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
He is a tradigital artist who combines layered digital photographs with mixed media materials. His works employ a poetic and metaphorical language to explore the dynamics of nature, including scientific, mythological, and psychological aspects, and to challenge our assumptions about what nature means to us. Rather than presenting an objective reality, his works create illusions to conjure our imagination.
His artwork presents a blend of reality and fiction, where ideas converge and meanings shift, creating dreamlike imagery. The fusion of past and present is a prominent feature, while experiments and storytelling play a vital role. In his artwork, he utilizes the aleatoric process to deviate from thoughtful conventions. Randomness, deliberate carelessness and experimentations are layered on top of each other until something emerges: a new landscape, a new world, a new story, an innerverse.
Vu’s work aims to establish a connection between the reality of nature and its imaginative interpretation. It explores various dimensions of nature – scientific, philosophical, biological, and human – and raises questions about our place within it.
Coincidental, accidental, and unexpected connections are at the heart of his artwork, providing a glimpse into an alternative universe that complements our own. The combination of unrelated elements gives rise to surprising analogies.

STATEMENT
Night falls on me
I see you as I drift away
You wonder where I went
I worry where you'll be
But I'll see you again
When you uproot and
Float with me.
